This is What the “IDF1967” Twitter Account Forgot To Tell the World About ?? “Graphic”

In this year’s six days war anniversary the Israeli Defense Army launched a twitter account “@IDF1967” in Hebrew to recount the events of the what happened in the war that changed the Middle East forever.

This account did not mention the documented war crimes committed by the IDF against the Egyptian POWs as well Egyptian citizens and Arab citizens in general during the war.

It neglected the fact that thousands of civilians in the Suez cities canal were killed in the air strikes of the IAF where the internationally banned Napalm bombs were used. Thousands of Egyptians were forced to be displaced.

Thousands of Egyptians were forced to be displaced.

Search For the 1956 POWs Massacre in Israeli literature

Literature is known to be the mirror of the society and its share from its social and political defeats and triumphs especially when it is inspired by real events like wars.

In 1960 one of Israel’s finest authors and playwrights Aharon Megged wrote a novel called “The fortunes of a fool” which

Aharon Megged

was published in 1960 , the novel is about the Suez war and its reflection on the hero of the novel , the fool who suffers in his social life to the degree that he wishes to kill himself finding a final resort in a terrible war.

In the 310 pages novel there is a whole chapter dedicated to the military tribunal of that fool hero who refused to follow his commanders’ orders and kill the Egyptian POWs he was guarding where there is that interesting dialogue between the judge and the fool hero showing how the Israeli military establishment supported and approved ((still does)) the murder of unarmed Arab POWs.

There is no doubt that Megged did not imagine that tribunal and that support to POWs murder from nothing , there is no smoke without fire, already in 1956 Israeli military correspondent then Amir Oren wrote about the Metla massacre then in Israeli newspaper “Davar“. There is no doubt that Megged was inspired by Oren’s reports where he wrote that whole chapter in that novel to represent his hero as a fool in the eyes of a military establishment.

“The fortunes of a fool” was translated in to English in 1962 in the United States. I do not know if it has been translated

Fortunes of a fool

in to Arabic or not despite the fact that other Megged’s have been translated in the Arab world as an example to the contemporary Israeli literature. This novel shows the importance of reading and translating the Israeli literature which is another window to understand the Israeli and Zionist mindsets. I knew about this novel from a 2009 op-ed by Dr. Ibrahim El-Bahrawy ((professor of Hebrew in Ain Shams university)) who was among the first to introduce examples from Israeli literature to the Egyptian and Arabic readers since early 1970s.

The English translation is available in Amazon.com if you are interested in reading it.

A Testimony of an Ex-POW Called Fouad Hegazy

Egyptian writer Fouad Hegazy is known to be the first one to write about his experience as an Egyptian POW  in Atlit prison. His book “The POWs build barricades” was from first novels to speak about that sad and terrible experience. Mr. Hegazy had a political activity before the six days war and he is considered  from the most active writers and novelists from outside

The POWs build barricades
The POWs build barricades

Cairo and Alexandria. He is originally from Mansoura and God knows that this man is behind the reason of having this website, he was the one who introduced me through his interview with Mona El-Shazely two years as far as I remember to the forgotten suffering of our POWs.His description to how our Egyptian POWs died while being transferred by train to Atlit reminded me with Schindler’s list film train scene.

Recently this year Dar-Shorouk published a new edition from his novel “The POWs build barricades” which was first published in Cairo in 1976. He had written this novel and finished in 1968 right after his return from Atlit.

The name of the novel itself is inspired by the famous events that took place on the night of 27th of Ramadan I believe where there was huge mutiny in the prison that put Atlit, the city itself in high alert status.

This novel was translated in to English and Russian and I am currently searching for these foreign translations. It was also used in PHD thesis in Sweden.

Now I have added Mr.Hegazy’s testimony to our Egyptian testimonies.I recommend please to read it and spread it because it is very important. He was captured by the Israelis on the very first day of the war, and remained a prisoner for eight months. This testimony will give a little hint about the Israeli death camp aka Atlit

POW No.36715 Speaks

Steps on  steps on a jailed landa jailed land
Steps on a jailed land

POW No.36715 is Mohamed Hussein Yunis who was captured by the IDF during the six days war 1967 and he has published a new edition from his memories about this tough experience. The book is called “Steps on jailed land” and it was published by “Dar Al-Shorouk” in Cairo in 2008 after its first print in 1982. The memories are like a novel , conversations between a POW who just had returned back home and his psychiatrist

Yunis describes the feelings of humiliation the Egyptian soldiers and officers whether in the six days war itself or their capture in Atlit prison. He describes in details both the physical and psychological warfare the Israeli army practiced against the Egyptian POWs.

According to critics the book is a documentary written by the feelings of a poet and the spirit of artist , an artist with No.36715.

Unfortunately the book is currently available in Arabic and in Egypt only for the time being , you can find it in book stores in Egypt especially Al-Shorouk Bookstores

6 October war1973 – Yom Kippur 1973 website

The only and the first website in English from its kind , May ALLAH bless the one who made it , bless his hands to stay all that time to do that wonderful job ,seriously yes it is an old fashioned website and needs a new look but it is a great golden mine

The Egyptian Perspective as you never seen before ,I recommend you to read what is in the website especially regarding the gap 🙂 dedicated to all those skeptical out there

6 October war1973 – Yom Kippur 1973

there is another Arabic version from the website in Arabic

I will copy these parts from the Questions sections to clear my point regarding the gap “Defersoir operation”

Had the Israeli crossing westwards the canal realized the military objective of Israel ?

The objective of Israeli crossing from the east (Sinai) to the west was to:

– Bombard the missiles batteries anti-planes “Sam
– Occupy Ismailia city, to encircle the second army by Sharon’s forces.
– Occupy Suez city and encircle the third army by forces of Avraham Adan and Kalman Magen.

But Sharon failed to occupy Ismailia city and the same with Adan and Magen to encircle third Egyptian Army and occupy Suez city.

About crossing to the west of the canal, David Elazar chief of Israeli headquarter staff on 3 December 1973, says:

Sharon still continues his irresponsible declaration to journalists trying to lessen the role of other leaders to appear as an unique champion, although he knows well that our crossing to the western side of the canal caused too much losses.

However, we could not along ten days of fighting to overcome any of Egyptian armies. The second army resisted and prevented us ultimately to reach Ismailia city.

As for the third army, in spite of our encircling them but they resisted and advanced to occupy in fact a wider area of land at the east. Thus, we can not say that we defeated or conquered them

My comment : This is not the first time I read an Israeli accusation to Ariel Sharon to act in an irresponsible way for own his personal glory , that was already mentioned in the book “The eve of destruction

As you see the military objectives were not achieved at all ,so I do not know how this can be considered a victory in the first place !!??

From a Book “The fourth war” by P.Kumar Narayan.

As a result of disastrous losses suffered by Israel in equipment and individual, and under political, military and strategic pressure, and after the American airlift, Israel found a chance in its operation of El Defersoir at the west of the canal.

Therefore, it tried to encircle this operation by the largest possible propaganda to veil the size and value of losses caused to it as a result of the great success achieved by Arab arms. However, it became clear that this limited success relayed by Israel can not neutralize effects of the Arab military victory or veil the defeat of Israel.

Tens of questions were raised about the Defersoir operation ( The Gap ) many running after the Israel propaganda tried to use it as to justify despising the size and value of Arab military achievement, but we must confirm an important reality that all these questions and trials can not touch the value of this achievement, and can not hide the reality of political isolation in which became Israel.

Results of a war are measured by its general implication, by what revealed of comprehensive development and changes, and not by limited tactical guns and losses of this or that side which is a natural matter in any military operation

P.Kumar Narayan is an Indian Journalist seemed to specialized in middle east affairs , I could not find his book but I am searching for it right now

The victory becomes defeat thanks to the big Zionist media machine and to the great Arab mind set who likes the conspiracy theories and throwing treason charges like words so easily

Anyhow I recommend that you read it this wonderful website seriously and if you are convince with what is written in it or even if you believe it is good to read from both sides ,please spread it all over the web
