POW No.36715 Speaks

Steps on a jailed land

POW No.36715 is Mohamed Hussein Yunis who was captured by the IDF during the six days war 1967 and he has published a new edition from his memories about this tough experience. The book is called “Steps on jailed land” and it was published by “Dar Al-Shorouk” in Cairo in 2008 after its first print in 1982. The memories are like a novel , conversations between a POW who just had returned back home and his psychiatrist

Yunis describes the feelings of humiliation the Egyptian soldiers and officers whether in the six days war itself or their capture in Atlit prison. He describes in details both the physical and psychological warfare the Israeli army practiced against the Egyptian POWs.

According to critics the book is a documentary written by the feelings of a poet and the spirit of artist , an artist with No.36715.

Unfortunately the book is currently available in Arabic and in Egypt only for the time being , you can find it in book stores in Egypt especially Al-Shorouk Bookstores

El-Mealem’s brother

Many people do not know the fact that El-Mealem Hassan Shehata’s brother was among our lost officers in 1967.Yes Hassan Shehate brother is among our men that went to Sinai in 1967 and had never returned since then. He was among that reportedly missing .The 1967 year was very special in the life of our favourite national team coach on all levels. Besides the loss of his brother ,the Egyptian league was freezed and Shehata had to travel to play in Kuwait in 1968 where it led through years to become the first Egyptian footballer to gain the title “The best footballer in Asia”.

Hassan Shehata seldomoly speaks about his family just like the rest of celebs in Egypt , I hope that he changes his mind and one day he will speak about how his family had suffered for not knowing the fate of their son whether he was killed in action or killed as a POW.

Shehata now is a world celeb ,he can be a strong ambassador to this cause just like he is strong and firm in the stadium

Wanted in Israel for War Crimes

Wanted” is an Israeli that demands the trial of the Israeli military commanders and ministers as War crimes especially what they had done in Gaza war 2008-2009.

From those commanders we got our Shaked affair hero Binyamin Fouad Ben Eliezer ,here is what is mentioned in the website regarding his war crimes in 1967

At the end of the ’67 war, the suspect was the head of the Sayeret Shaked IDF Unit. According to testimonies by Israeli and Egyptian soldiers, the suspect ordered the killing of 250 Egyptian or Palestinian fighters (exact nationality unclear) shortly after the war ended. Evidence indicates that the killings were carried out using helicopters flying low above the Sinai desert, hunting the retreating soldiers, some of whom were unarmed.

Further eye-witness testimonies state that the suspect personally executed prisoners of war who did not obey instructions. The killing of soldiers after hostilities have ended, and the execution of prisoners of war are all expressly prohibited under international law and are classed as war crimes.

Ben Eliezer came to Egypt again after March 2007 to sign the gas export agreement with current Oil Minister Sameh Fahmy by the way. Yes Sameh Fahmy smiled and shook the hands of a war criminal whose hands are stained by our Egyptian and Arab POWs Blood.

All this is not enough evidence to go to international court

Ambassador Mahmoud Bassiouny surprised the audience of the dialogue forum at Bibliothca Alexandria with several shocking surprises yesterday that deserved to be post in the first pages in newspapers , at least the independent newspapers published them for their controversy.

He spoke about several points including the nature of his work as the Ambassador of Egypt in Israel ,

Ambassador Mohamed El-Bassiony
Ambassador Mohamed El-Bassiony

according to his confession he went there as an intelligence officer after long career and heading the Israel sector in military  intelligence.

He spoke about Ashraf Marwan ,adding more fuel to the fire , complicating the enigmatic case already , he said indirectly or even directly that Marwan was not our man but rather was working for the Israelis at the same time the public media is glorifying the late businessman and enigma man as a national hero.

He spoke about Um Al-Rashrash ,he said that it was not Egyptian but rather Palestinian, still what he said regarding the remains of the officers found from several months concern us.

Contrary to we thought , according to Bassiouny the remains were for Palestinian soldiers , of course this is strange because if they were Palestinians ,they would be identified, already the Palestinians as far as I know are keeping chronicles of their wars with Jewish gangs and afterward the Israeli army. They document every piece of their history so I do not know how they can miss this , they are not Palestinians.

To our core concern regarding the POWs case

According to the former Ambassador we can go and sue Israel internationally because we do not have any evidence that prove that they killed our POWs !!!!!

What can I say !!??

First we can go to international courts to Sue Israel and even win the case with all the evidence we have. Are not the people of Arish eye witnesses ?? Are not the testimonies of the ex-POWs enough ?? Are not the confessions of the Israelis themselves enough ??

What else does he want more ??
